I am going to use the lights as accent lighting for my room instead of on a car. I have an AC electrical plug I connected to the lights rated at 12Volts 200ma. It seems to light them ok. My two questions with this are:
1: will this be a good way to light these lights?
2: if i use a 15volt plug will it cause them to shine brighter without risking damage or fire?

the answer to both your question is :there is not enought data amperage of the kit would be nice to know but an educated guess 1:yes this seems to be a good way to light the leds however the amp sure seem low i don’t think they shine very bright and 2:using 15 volt will cause them to heat excessively and burn out faster than they normally would with small to no benefit…

I just bought a pair of fog lamps for my pickup, and the wiring diagram is telling me to connect one of the hot wires to the parking lights. Is this mandatory or can I leave it unhooked and still get a complete circuit?

I have to decide the headlamp leveling angle of dipped beam of a heavy duty truck whose load carrying capacity is more than 12 tonnes. the distance of dipped beam lamp & ground is 888mm for unladen vehicle & that of laden vehicle is 858mm. Please let me know how to decide the leveling angle?

ramesh, that isn’t how it is done in the real world

if the headlights are currently aimed correctly with the truck empty, spot and mark a wall with the current center position of the low beams, now load the truck and recheck and adjust to the same settings with the truck now fully loaded

just pick a level spot, it doesn’t matter if you move the truck to load it, just position it in the same spot when you check it, good luck!

Automotive bulbs are as important to the cars as the eyes to us. They come in many different ranges depending upon the type and intensity of the light they emit. Some are bright and some project a normal frequency of light. They come in all different temperature ranges, which basically determine the type of color possessed by the bulb. Types of automotive bulbs also depend on their life span.

Generally the types of automotive bulbs are: the Headlights, Fog light bulbs, mini bulbs and specialty bulbs. We are going to acquaint ourselves with them one by one. First of all the most important type, that is the headlight bulbs; there are mainly two types of headlights installed in the vehicles, one is the sealed beam type and the other is bulb type headlight. The  sealed beam type are the lights which need to be replaced completely if damaged, this means that if the bulb is fused or any other part of it is damaged, it can not be replaced individually. It requires a complete new headlight assembly including bulb, glass and the metal casing.

Whereas; the bulb type headlights offer a much more convenient method of replacing the damaged part. If the bulb gets fused or damaged, you can simply replace it approaching the bulb from the engine compartment and your light is as good as new. There are a lot of variations in these bulbs which you can have in you headlights. By just changing the type of bulb you can control the light intensity and can also select a color of particular range. Some of the bulbs available in the market are; Xenon ( 30 % brighter light) this bulb outshines the usual bulb by providing 30% brighter view of the road up till 50-75m.then we have the Xenon Ultra ( 50% bright) which provides better orientation on the road thus giving an early warning to the hazards. Long life (LL) is the bulb offering longer life and this is done by using heavy gases such as Argon and Krypton. For the commercial vehicles which are prone to damage their headlight bulbs due to some shock, the Heavy Duty type is best suited as their filament is made of a heavy duty material that resists failure for a longer period of time.

Both types, the ones which are mounted on top of the truck as an aftermarket product and the standard type installed on the bottom of the car operate on Halogen bulbs. BULBS: – Changed out all the turn and brake bulbs with LED’s by Pilot Automotive I picked up from Pep Boys Auto Parts. I prolly never have to replace those bulbs again as long as I own the bike. – Changed the 25 watt Headlamps with 35 watt headlamps from a local scooter store. STEREO: – Pioneer Car Stereo under the seat – Pioneer Head on dash – Antenna on front of bike. Antenna was too flimsy wth the antenna ball on it, so I wrapped the antenna with a coat hanger. – Stereo is AM/FM/CD with USB Port. – USB extension cable ran to inside of glove box connected to an 8GB Thumb Drive. FUEL PUMP: – Not pictured is the Mr. Gasket 42S electric Fuel Pump. – Green light on the right side of the dash is hard to see in the video, but it is the rocker switch I installed for the electric fuel pump. If I need to turn the bike on ACC for radio, I can manually turn the pump off. CUP HOLDER: – Adjustable cup holder I got an Albertson’s supermarket. WIRE MESH BASKET: – Office Depot. ALSO PICTURED: – Wife’s scoot. I have not modded that bike as of yet. The only thing I added so far was the cup holder.

I just bought some halogen light bulbs from SYLVANIA (XTravision 9400). But, last year, my buddy Robin and I where experimenting, testing and tinkering around (via our EVCO (http://www.evco.ca)) with some ultra-bright LEDs. This one light, which drew maybe 40 or 50 watts, had about 20 or 30 ultra-small white LEDs and completely light up his apartment room as though we had a 150 – 200 Watt incandescent (regular) light bulb. It was blindingly bright! I was wondering if there are any commercially available LED lights for a 9400 standard series automotive headlamp?

Question by marshall: How do you get rid of condensation inside automotive lights?
A few of my lights on my car have condensation in them. I’ve tried taking them off and letting them gry out but the condensation just comes back. How do I get rid of it for good?

You can try resealing them yourselves, or find a machine shop that can create a hard vacuum. They can drill the lamp, force the air and the moisture along with it out and reseal it.

The problem is the gaskets that seal the capsules are going to let some moisture in and they will fog. I would avoid trying to seal the gaskets or fittings with anything because of the intense heat generated by the capsules.
