Question by Ben: What are some car care tips for keeping a car looking like new besides the usually washing and waxing?
I own two cars a 1996 Mustang I recently bought and a 2004 Suzuki Forenza I bought new. The Mustang was kept in excellent condition very clean inside and out with the original paint and finish in great condition.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on car care besides the usually washing, waxing, and vacuuming the interior for keeping a car looking new inside and out. Tips especially for cars kept outside. The Forenza is outside and the Mustang is now garaged, not sure if it was before. I would like to be able to have any car I would own for 13 years end up staying as nice as the previous owners kept the mustang.

1. wash car
2. clay car-This removes contaminants stuck to your paint that normal washing wont get off. I recommend Meguiar’s Smooth surface clay kit. You can also use the clay bar on your windows/wheels too, but of course, do the paint first. Can also wash your car after claying, but isnt necessary
3.paint cleaners-These remove swirl marks/scratches/oxidation/etc. Different strenghts, depending on the severity of the paint. I suggest Meguiars Swirlx. Swirlx may not be aggressive enough, so you may need to step it up to Meguiar’s ultimate compound, then follow it with Swirlx. How to use Paint cleaners: after washing and claying your car. Apply the product to a microfiber applicator. Work the product in a 16×16 in section for about a minute, then remove with microfiber towel, dont let dry. Inspect results, repeat process if needed, see if its up to your par, if not, step up to ultimate compound. Otherwise, if youre done with the section, move on and repeat. You apply ultimate compound in the same way.
4.Pure Polish. This step is optional, as if you were to use a paint cleaner, such as the ones mentioned above, since they already have polishing oils in them. You’ll notice more of a difference in using a pure polish on darker colors, but wont hurt to do it on lighter colors. Meguirs deep crystal polish is their most user friendly polish. Their #7 polish is the best polish, but side-by-side, it will be hard to tell a difference. To apply polish, apply to microfiber applicator. Work in about the same size section, kinda message it into the paint (much like applying lotion to your skin) for about 40 seconds, then wipe off with microfiber towel, dont let dry.
Wax:. Protects paint, gives shine, locks in polish. This is the only product you let dry. Apply to microfiber applicator, apply to paint evenly in circle motions. Let dry to haze. Wipe off with microfiber towel. Two applications is best. Nxt 2.0 tech wax is Meguiars most popular wax.
Then, tire shine, cant have shiny paint with horrible dull looking tires. Any will do.
All these products can be found at wal-mart.
Then for the plastic trim/bumpers
Meguiars Natural shine protectant, or supreme shine protectant
It’ll make it look like new.
Apply to microfiber towel, wipe on
let dry for 10 min, wipe off

How To Select an Automotive Website Vendor

Car dealers are shifting more of their automotive advertising budgets to digital strategies and that include Google Adwords, Automotive SEO, blogging and social media. Third party websites and lead generation companies all help car dealers sell more cars. However, their best source for high quality leads is their own website.
With that in mind, car dealers must carefully evaluate the success of their current automotive website to ensure that their ROI is in line with their peers. Since automotive website contracts often run 1, 2 or 3 years, selecting any website platform can have long term financial obligations.
Car dealers should evaluate any website platform on its ability to integrate important business operation elements such as lead generations, lead management, customer relationship management (CRM), content generation and lead conversion. Integrated automotive website platforms can also save time and money by reducing the number of vendors that are required to operate their digital sales strategy.
As car dealers increase their digital automotive advertising budgets, website that assist them with Google Adwords campaign management will become more of a must have feature. Currently only a few website platforms innovate Google Adwords management for car dealers.
Automotive Website Awards
The most authoritative independent review of automotive websites is the ASMA Awards which are presented in the fall at the annual Digital Dealer Conference. The Automotive Search Marketing Architecture (ASMA) awards recognize the best automotive website platforms based on their search marketing authority and tools.
Car dealers looking to purchase a new automotive website technology can use the 2009 ASMA report to guide their purchase or wait until October 13, 2010 for the release of the 2010 report.
Ask Your Peers
Before car dealers purchase an automotive website platform, they can also participate in popular automotive forums like Dealerrefresh.com and Drivingsales.com to ask their peers what they consider may be best for their needs. Peer recommendations are often the best because they are not being compensated for their responses.

Should You Use Professional Car Care Products?

When talking with most car owners, whether their ride is a daily-driver or a show-car, most have an opinion on the type of car care products to use. It used to end with, “You get what you pay for.” But today, the differences between car care products is blurry, mostly due to marketing which has created a lot of hype and confusion for people. Today it seems that âNew and Improvedâ is a requirement for printing any product label.
Who hasnât gone to a department store, paid for a bottle of wax and sacrificed most of a Saturday cleaning and waxing their car? Or maybe youâve decided that the big Auto Parts Chain stores had better stuff to cut your time and you can get better results for only a few dollars more? Today, on any âWax Wallâ, there is a myriad of choices, all in slick packaging competing for your hard earned dollars.
So, what separates the retail and professional car care products besides slick packaging and marketing? Think about this simple fact: If Auto Dealers and Professional Detailers could get products of similar quality in the Auto Parts and Department Store Chains, why wouldnât they? Simple -because time is money and results matter.
Letâs look at a Professional Detailing business. You hire them to clean and detail your car for a fixed price. You donât care if it takes them 1 hour or 18 hours â you are paying the same price. Professional Detailers have three major challenges. First, their time is their most valuable asset for earning a living. Secondly, if your car is not looking good for a time after the detail, you wonât go back to them and they have lost a customer. Third, most of their business is word of mouth. If the results arenât astonishing, they wonât get any referrals. The bottom line is that they need products that are fast, easy to use, get great results and last. If they donât use professional car care products, they will not be in business very long.
Now letâs look inside an Auto Dealership. They take your car in trade when you by a new one. The first thing that they need to do is to clean and detail the car, then put it for sale on their lot. The goal is to sell the car as soon as possible for a profit, but it might sit in inventory for a month or more before eventually being wholesaled to an auction or another dealership. The car almost always sits outside, has to constantly look great and the finish has to stand up to the outside elements. The dealership has similar needs to the Professional Detailer – products that get great results in a minimal amount of time. They only want to clean and detail that particular car one time.
Donât get me wrong – not all retail products are bad, and you may be very happy with your brand of choice. The major difference of retail and professional car care products is usually based on amount of quality ingredients used in the formulations. For example, most of you would be surprised when learning that some of the larger, well known retail brands donât even manufacture their own products â they have in essence become marketing companies, and are very good at it with wide distribution and big advertising budgets.
Keep in mind how much you are really spending. It might make sense to choose a retail product over a professional car care product to save . But, it might make more sense to get better results in less time that last longer and opt for a guaranteed, professional product. Another bonus when purchasing professional car care products is that these companies are used to serving professionals and are well versed in car care. They often will work with you one on one with your car and can offer expertise to help you with your specific needs and questions that you have.
Consider your choices when buying retail or professional car care products. Factor in whatâs important to you â cost, time, and results.

Tips for Buying the Discount Rental Cars

If youâre going to rent at Discount Rental Cars during vacation then youâll probably need to take in consideration repair issues to the cars which could cause additional charges; therefore, you would need to exercise caution when renting cars. In order to rent a car for a great deal then you need to follow the certain tips mentioned below:
1. Select the correct size of a car.
You should not rent a full sized SUV if your family consists of only three persons. A smaller car at Discount Rental Cars would suffice in this situation and it would be cheaper also.
2. Rent the best type of a car.
Most people think that Discount Rental Cars are luxury vehicles but a person who plans to rent within their budget will be more careful while renting when compared to others. While purchasing a rental car youâll find that the luxury vehicles will cost more when compared to an economy car. Also sports car will cost more. The best choice is to purchase the basic car and save your money.
3. Renting car throughout the week is best option.
While comparing rental rates the best option is to purchase the Discount Rental Cars for an entire week instead of renting for 4 or 5 days. You should also compare the daily rental rates with weekly rates. In most cases the weekly rates are the better choice. If you need to rent the car early then you should double check the policies of the company.
4. Compare with numerous shops.
If you are familiar with the operations of car rental companies then you should be aware of the importance of comparing prices. Afterwards you would need to obtain the quotes from each car insurance company and finally you should consider the best car that meets your requirements. With the help of travel sites online you can find the costs for renting cars. Â Â Through the website of the rental car company you can check directly the cheapest prices for renting cars. If youâre looking to save money then you can refer to secondary sites for online coupons.
5. Check the package deals.
You can also save money by booking flights, Discount Rental Cars and hotels at the same time during the vacation; however, package deals really donât have better rates. Â You would need to calculate in order to save money.
6. Discuss with your car insurance company.
You can compare the rental carâs insurance with yours to determine if there are discounts in renting cars. They will offer insurance while driving the rental car. You should read all the policies very carefully or you can even call your car insurance company to ensure that all the requirements have been covered. So, in this case thereâs no need to get the daily insurance from the respective car rental company because you wonât be saving money.
7. See your benefits with credit card.
Many people arenât aware that credit card benefits are given along with renting cars. By using your credit card you can get lots of discounts with car rentals or rental car insurance. In order to know the benefits of renting a car with a credit card you should contact your credit card company.
8. With help from other memberships you can find the discounts regarding rental cars.
Various other memberships offer discounts for renting cars. If you are a member of a club or other group you can check for the rental car benefits.
Automotive Reviews and Skeptical Journalism

When we hear the words âautomotive reviewsâ we think of comparative tests, investigations, technical details, advantages and disadvantages of a particular car model. People are most interested in automotive reviews when they are about to purchase a vehicle. This is an important decision for the potential buyer since the car may remain in his/her possession for many years. Actually, statistics say that the purchase of a car is the second largest expense for many people. In developing countries, the situation is even worse than that, as choosing a certain car is sometimes a life commitment for those people. Under these circumstances, automotive reviews are a must. No automobile is to be purchased without having consulted its review. Automotive reviews are useful for all kinds of customers, from those are simply interested in buying a cheap car with good gas mileage to those who are mostly interested in design and comfort. To all these people the purchase of a car may appear as a very challenging experience, since the auto market is vast and the lack of experience can prove to be a serious drawback. Needless to say all those interested in purchasing a car should follow the latest automotive news in order to keep up with what is new in this vast and complicated area. However, automotive reviews cannot be found on television every day, nor do they appear in newspapers. Moreover, specialized media, such as auto magazines, which are issued weekly or monthly, may not give the automotive reviews you need when you need them. Therefore, a good source of accurate and reliable automotive reviews is the Internet. Automotive blogs are full of information with and about cars and many related topics. In addition, you get more than statistics or official figures, because people like you have posted their comments or facts from personal experience on those car blogs. Sometimes this beats all automotive reviews.
As we have stated before, there are many sources of automotive news and reviews. The problem is that some of them may not be as reliable as we think and this can be damaging to the consumer. There are times when the interests of certain companies stand in the way of giving consumers honest advice. A good share of criticism is not a must have for automotive reviews. However, skeptical journalism is proof that the consumerâ s best interest is at the top of the priority list. Auto magazines present a lot of automotive reviews because thatâs their line of work, but they will rarely point out possible flaws of automobiles. Everyone will agree that in the auto magazines or TV shows, the automotive reviews sound a little too good to be true. You can check out the latest automotive news in magazines and on TV shows, but as far as the reviews are concerned, you should only trust what you see with your own eyes. This may turn out to be a little difficult at times, but fortunately we live in the technology era, and seeing it for yourself is now possible on the internet. If a car reviewer speaks of some less appealing features of a certain automobile, thereâs the chance of actually seeing them by means of multimedia. Criticism equals bad publicity, so when it comes to magazines or television shows, thereâs a good chance that the consumer will be deprived of his right to be honestly and correctly informed. Therefore, the internet remains the most reliable source of both automotive news and automotive reviews.

I highly recommend Autoblog. It is similar to Jalopnik, but they just improved their site and have news, reviews, and cover different events all over. Also has fun little articles about other things car related, a very reliable site.
