Question by Straud K: Mazda Parts?
I have a 1990 Mazda B2200. It has 2 catalytic converters. The first bolts directly to the exhaust manifold. The second is downline before the muffler. I need the gasket that goes between the manifold and the first converter. No one can come up with this gasket.

Have you tried a muffler\exhaust shop? I would think that they could get you one. Otherwise try a junkyard.

Question by meme3: Why won’t my Mazda shift out of park in the cold?
I posted this in the general repairs forum before I saw the Mazda section. I have a Mazda 626 ES. For some reason it won’t shift out of park when the temperatures are around freezing. I’ve tried warming it up for a very long time, rocking the car, etc. Eventually with a lot of finesse, it finally goes into reverse. The transmission fluid has recently been changed. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Mazda – Born to Be Wild

mazda parts

Zoom, zoom, zoom… Do you remember the old Mazda RX-7 or the ever popular autocross champion Mazda Miata? Mazda cars have always focused on exhilarating performance, as it is in fact the hallmark of their brand. Mazda was actually the first to put the performance benefits of Wankel’s rotary engine to work in consumer production vehicles; now today the Renesis rotary engine which is found in the amazing new Mazda RX-8 has the title of International engine of the year.

With all of these choices, which is the best choice for you? Well to clearly identify that you need to take a trip down to your local Mazda shop and test drive a few, stop by Mazda parts and service to look over your choice of accessories, as once you have a Mazda you will have to make it your very own. There are so many ways to dress up and make your Mazda stand out in the crowd; it would truly be a shame not to take advantage of them.

Whether you are in Mazda USA, Mazda Canada, or Mazda Japan, you will find a high quality well performing vehicle for your needs. Unfortunately for you United States and Canada folks, you will have to take a backseat on the Mazda Bongo, which will be primarily sold in Japan. We’re talking kitchen units, fold out beds, and elevated roof for heightened adult comfort. Great comfort, decent economy, and a look that will bring you back to the days of tie dye and flowers in your hair, that is what is know as the Mazda Bongo.

Mazda is not all performance cars and hippy vans of course; in fact there is quite a line of classy family coupes and sedans that would great in just about anyone’s driveway. The Mazda Protege, also known as the Mazda 323 has been around since 1976 when it was first introduced as a rear wheel drive economy based compact. Built to last the Mazda Protege is not as of yet extinct, but has been promoted as the all new Mazda 3.

The all new Mazda 3 has a much roomier feel these days, and the engine choices will have you humming the entire way to work. They are all around great cars for everyone from your father to your teenager. The Mazda 3 is a definite winner. But if three is this good; you just have to wonder what the six could be.

The Mazda 626 came in around the same time as the 323, and was considered to be a moderately upscale compact with more flair and comfort than the 323. Just a few years later the Mazda 626 would be called Motor Trends import car of the year, and Mazda was definitely looking like they were going to be around for awhile. Now if a sport coupe was more to your liking then all you had to do was remove the last two numbers, and the Mazda 6 was the car for you.

The Mazda 6 was a rather nice performer compared to the previous 626, and could be woken up even more with its optional 2.2 liter turbo engine. Sold to the consumer at various trim levels the Mazda 6 definitely had a sporty feel; with a leather interior, 3-way adjustable suspension, ABS brakes, and electric sunroof the Mazda 6 was albeit not as sporty as the Mazda RX-7, but was definitely the next best thing. Now if ripping the streets is not your thing and an occasional romp through the trails is more your speed, then the Mazda tribute, which is actually based on the Mazda 626 platform, should be your weapon of choice.

The Mazda Tribute is a small crossover SUV, designed for the city folk with a country heart. With a four or six cylinder engine and firmer ride, the Tribute makes a great all around family transporter. But once again, Mazda did not quit here. Today’s buyer now has the option of the all new Mazda CX-7, which is considered to be “the SUV you never saw coming”. Sleek, Muscular, and performance car handling brings the CX-7 into the next millennium singing “Zoom, zoom, zoom” all the way to the grocery store!

Diesel Amplifies Mazda Vehicles

mazda

Before the year ends, Mazda will expand its diesel offerings in Australia.

An example is the Mazda 3 diesel that will join the Mazda6 and is expected to arrive in September. It will be available in both sedan and hatchback form, the Mazda 3 will have the same engine as the present Mazda6 diesel.

One hundred five kilowatt (105 kW) and 360Nm are produced by the 2.0-litre common-rail turbo diesel and its fuel consumption is rated at 6L/100km.

Will only be available in the one Maxx Sport trim level, the Mazda 3 will feature a rear spoiler as well as 16-inch wheels. And not like the petrol models, Direct Stability Control will be available as a standard feature.

Alistair Doak, Mazda spokesman, said that the Japanese company is targeting to sell more than 100 Mazda3 diesels per month. However, he added that it will be a reasonably small percentage of overall sold Mazda 3 units. For the month of May, Mazda reached sales of 2758 units. This figure means that the car is the second most popular small car, next to Toyota Corolla.

Mazda originally forecasted 50 sales per month for the Mazda 6 diesel when it went on sale. But Doak said that they now target 100 models per month. He added that the company has no plans to expand the diesel range further in Australia.

He explained that the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 will be the two diesel passenger cars, the car types that comprise the highest sales in Europe. He further explained that their fellow Japanese car makers are not offering any diesel car and the company is introducing the second one.

He also said that the company has no plans for diesel engines in the larger CX-7 as well as to the yet-to-arrive CX-9 because these cars are primarily for the market in North America, where demand for diesel is far too low.

The generation of the Mazda 2 will follow after the Mazda 3 diesel. The Mazda 2, which is smaller, will go on sale in October and is expected to remain at nearly ,000 for the entry model.

According to Doak, buyers can expect that the new Mazda2 will be comparable in price to the current car, which begins at ,335 for the Neo and rises to ,290 for the excellent Genki model. He added that the Mazda2 would be available only with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine, not like some of its competing cars, which offer 1.3-litre entry models. He further stated that as to the cost, certainly there is not much difference.

With the light car running in the third spot of sales behind Mazda3 and Mazda6, the Mazda 2, according to him, is an essential part of the overall line-up. He said that the car’s styling brings it into line with the rest of the Mazda line-up. He also said that the company has always established good image regarding being a leader in style and the Mazda2 should also establish good reputation in the light-car segment.

Since December 2002, the current car has been on sale. So far this year, Mazda has sold 3045 units, which is a 30 percent increase on last year’s sales figures.

The industry is also expecting that Mazda will carry over the existing three model names; Neo, Maxx and Genki.

With curtain and side airbags as options and the ABS in the current model, safety has been the very aim of building the car. The new one is expected to add dynamic stability control feature to the safety kit. This new comer removed nearly 100kg of weight from its predecessor.

The company says that high-tensile steel was utilized to slice out weight without putting at risk the safety, body inflexibility, noise, vibration and sharpness. It also claims that the car has improved up to 15 percent over the current car. So this has benefits for fuel economy. The 60/40 split rear-fold seat is still present while the luggage area has been decreased from 280 to 250 liters.

The 1.5-litre offers 76kW at 6000 revs and 136Nm at 4000 revs – decreases from 82kW at 6000 revs and 141Nm at 4000 revs.

Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese automotive manufacturer headquartered in Hiroshima. Japan. As of last year, 2006, the company is expected to produce 1.25 million vehicles per year with sales equally divided among Japan, Europe, North America, and then Latin America.
