I need some advice please=transmission

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to try to help me. I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan, it's an automatic, it's a v6. It is running pretty smoothly except it hesitates when I put it in drive, there is a definate delay, also when I stop at a light and then start to take off, it hesitates again. Someone told me that it sounds like a transmission problem. What do ya'll think. I am so ignorant about this kind of stuff. Thanks.

Hi Nancy, I am no pro, but have owned many chrsler minivans, and have probably experienced and fixed just about every problem they have had with them. Based on this, I would reccomend you try 2 things.
1st, have the fluid and filter changed by a reliable reputable shop, and be sure that they only put the MOPAR ATF+4 fluid into the tranny, @nd, I would disconnect the power from the battery to kill all memory in the tranny computer, then reconnect the power and drive the van in a careful and normal manner for a short time and see if the computer re learns the driving program. These are two simple and inexpensive possibilities worth trying before being told you need a new tranny. Good luck.
