89 Dodge Omni Squealing Like a Pig

Q: Just recently I took my '89 Dodge Omni to get it checked due to a loud squealing noise I notice while driving. They replaced the front brakes and rotors but the squealing still continued. I took it back and they cleaned up the brakes and told me the problem was solved-but it wasn't. The squealing seems to slow down (but doesn't stop) when I brake. It is so annoying! It doesn't begin until I drive for a couple of miles. Is there anything I could check out? A: I would suggest checking the dust shields located just behind the disc brake rotors. The dust shields are easily bent during brake service. When a dust shield contacts the rotors' surface it will emit a squeaking or squealing noise that sounds very much like bad brakes. Also, dust shields are notorious for waiting to make noise until the vehicle has been driven.
