Dakota Doors won't Open?	Can't Post

I just got a friends truck to see if I could fix a won't open door problem. Anyone have any info about a problem with the Dakota doors and a piece that breaks in side the door panel? I believe the year is a 1990 but that may be off by a year or two. ANy help is appreciated
