Parking lights won't turn off.

My 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee's parking lights won't turn off when I turn off the ignition. When I have the switch in the "auto" position my parking lights stay on. If I turn it to the off position it's the same thing, but then the ding ding indicator goes on and stays on even with the door closed. I have to turn the switch all the way to the fog lights position to actually turn on the headlights and when I'm driving with the switch to the fog lights position, my interior dashboard lights dim. Please help, before I go and spend hundreds at an auto repair shop and spen $93 an hour.......
