I just read Cather in the Rye for English, and now I have an assignment where I need to find any song that Holden Caulfield could relate to (lyrically). No Simple Plan allowed, or the songs Catcher in the Rye and Holden Caulfield.

I don’t know if it’s exactly the right genre but there’s a song by John Mellancamp that might fit called “Between a Laugh and a Tear”.
I liked that song growing up and sometimes I felt a little like Holden did.
Who Wrote Holden Caufield – Green Day
also Basket Case, Longview, Castaway. A lot of their songs because the lead singer relates to Holden a lot.
