Question by MRW: What are the benefits of using genuine Honda parts?
My husband and I are having a disagreement about using genuine Honda brake shoes vs. generic ones. I think you get what you pay for and I don’t mind spending $ 40 more to get the best parts. He feels that brake shoes are brake shoes. If he is right, I don’t see why we should spend the extra money.

Quality would be different between different brands. Even the manufacturer’s have different level of quality to their pads/shoe.

If you like the genuine Honda shoes then see you find out who makes them and the buy that brand. For example, I know some BMW pads are made by Jurid. Find a store that sells it and it will be a lot cheaper then the dealer.

I personality don’t like to go cheap on brakes and tires, but I can understand your husband’s pov. The rear brakes are not as important as the fronts. And I don’t think the quality is that much different with shoes.

If he can say that he can get shoes of equal or higher quality for less then why not. Genuine Honda parts is not always the highest quality available.

To answer everyone’s questions…
The tires are weighted. That’s how they can roll uphill.
It was shot in two takes, because they ran out of room.
It took them 605 tries to get it right.
This is not computer generated, real people took real time to make this.
They used parts from 2 cars.

not being funny, but i totally start my car like that……how dare they not give me any credit….

This commercial is absolutely mind-blowing! Not only is it fascinating to watch, but the conceptual planning that took place before this commercial could even be filmed is equally astonishing! Although it took an awfully long time (and clearly a lot of patience since it took several takes to perfect this sequence) the end result was well worth the wait!

Nickaroni Said:

Sometimes using non-genuine parts on a car will void a warranty. If your car is out of warranty, it doesn’t really matter.

shoes are shoes, ive found that some aftermarket brake parts hold up better than factory parts.
