How do I install a pilot automotive strobe kit.?

Question by xpsruler: How do I install a pilot automotive strobe kit.?
I recently bought a small pilot automotive strobe kit. I want to put the strobes in front of my car by the grill. How do I wire it? All the lights go back to a control unit which has a positive and negative wire leading out of it. The box says 12V hardwire but I have no idea where I’d put the wires to get the power. If anyone knows the answer please help

Question by ramesh: Hello Friends, could you please tell me the working of automotive headlamp leveling system?
I have to decide the headlamp leveling angle of dipped beam of a heavy duty truck whose load carrying capacity is more than 12 tonnes. the distance of dipped beam lamp & ground is 888mm for unladen vehicle & that of laden vehicle is 858mm. Please let me know how to decide the leveling angle?
Best answer:
Answer by bmwrider001
ramesh, that isn’t how it is done in the real world
if the headlights are currently aimed correctly with the truck empty, spot and mark a wall with the current center position of the low beams, now load the truck and recheck and adjust to the same settings with the truck now fully loaded
just pick a level spot, it doesn’t matter if you move the truck to load it, just position it in the same spot when you check it, good luck!

Question by rakitiko1: Automotive Paint?
I was just buying paint for 1997 silver mitsubishi eclipse and i saw that online they sale 1 quart or good OEM car paint for $ 75, so my questions was is that enough paint to paint the basecoat of my bumper and my two fenders (in few words how much can you paint with one quart of car basecoat paint)?

Answer by ♥Constance♥
Quite a bit, some paints have different ratios but most paints thin at least 1:1 thats a half gallon of paint dude, if you use a gravity feed hvlp paint gun your paint will go farther because there is less overspray, It also depends on if the original color is the same as the paint your buying, some colors are harder to cover. Unless something drastic happens you should have plenty. Don’t forget reducer/thinner dude.

Is there like a directory or a forum that list all automotive related forums?

Question by a_secret_unknown: Is there like a directory or a forum that list all automotive related forums?
Im looking for information on a website that catogorizes forums.Instead of typing in a car and then adding “forum” afterwards, Im wondering if theres a website that has a listing of all of them or at least a goood amount.
For example…this site will have a section for Mazda, and then have the different forum websites that are for mazda cars

Hotrodder.com is one that I am a member of. It is normally for “hotrods” though, but some people do ask import questions. It is pretty much a general forum though.

The Investment Of An Automotive Paint Booth

Modern day manufacturers have a significant number of types of such booths. The reason for this is to cover the entire spectrum of customer requirements. You could want a booth to paint an automobile or an aircraft or a very tiny intricate part in large numbers. All of these different samples would need different types of booths. Because of this reason the various types of paint booths are:
Truck spray booth and
Industrial spray booths
Truck and Industrial Spray Booths
The truck spray booths are further categorized into the full; side and the semi-down draft varieties besides the reverse and front flow types. Similarly the industrial spray booths are sub-divided into the airplane booths and the production tunnels.

Automotive Spray booths
The could be sub-divided into the premier variant, the insulated variant and the full, semi and side down draft variants besides the reverse and front flow types.
The Premier Spray Booth
This spray booth has white powder coated panels that are double walled and fully insulated. This results in considerable saving in energy, ease of maintenance and increased durability. The panels are punched with precision and made of heavy gauge galvanized steel for protection against corrosion and long life.
The has uniform airflow due to the full ceiling air intake filters. The surplus spray is forced out of the vehicle by the central flow exhaust system.
The direct-fired heat system scores by 20% in efficiency terms over the indirect fired heating system. Recirculation of preheated air from the baking cycle effects greater energy savings.
Electronic monitoring of filters, energy saving motor drives and an auto shut down system all help in the further saving in running costs.
The lights are strategically located and have access from the inside. This means that the exterior is flush and clean. The lighting is well focused in order to eliminate shadows. The lights have also been selected with the saving of energy costs in mind.
The provision of tri-fold doors and a 2-meter pit under the central exhaust system further enhance the utilization of the .

Types of Automotive Bulbs

Automotive bulbs are as important to the cars as the eyes to us. They come in many different ranges depending upon the type and intensity of the light they emit. Some are bright and some project a normal frequency of light. They come in all different temperature ranges, which basically determine the type of color possessed by the bulb. Types of automotive bulbs also depend on their life span.
Generally the types of automotive bulbs are: the Headlights, Fog light bulbs, mini bulbs and specialty bulbs. We are going to acquaint ourselves with them one by one. First of all the most important type, that is the headlight bulbs; there are mainly two types of headlights installed in the vehicles, one is the sealed beam type and the other is bulb type headlight. The sealed beam type are the lights which need to be replaced completely if damaged, this means that if the bulb is fused or any other part of it is damaged, it can not be replaced individually. It requires a complete new headlight assembly including bulb, glass and the metal casing.
Whereas; the bulb type headlights offer a much more convenient method of replacing the damaged part. If the bulb gets fused or damaged, you can simply replace it approaching the bulb from the engine compartment and your light is as good as new. There are a lot of variations in these bulbs which you can have in you headlights. By just changing the type of bulb you can control the light intensity and can also select a color of particular range. Some of the bulbs available in the market are; Xenon ( 30 % brighter light) this bulb outshines the usual bulb by providing 30% brighter view of the road up till 50-75m.then we have the Xenon Ultra ( 50% bright) which provides better orientation on the road thus giving an early warning to the hazards. Long life (LL) is the bulb offering longer life and this is done by using heavy gases such as Argon and Krypton. For the commercial vehicles which are prone to damage their headlight bulbs due to some shock, the Heavy Duty type is best suited as their filament is made of a heavy duty material that resists failure for a longer period of time.

Finally the Truckstar which are a uniquely designed new generation halogen bulbs meant to cope with the extreme demands of 24 volts heavy duty commercial transport applications. Now let us discuss the Fog lights. Both types, the ones which are mounted on top of the truck as an aftermarket product and the standard type installed on the bottom of the car operate on Halogen bulbs. Halogen bulbs are useful because they do not reflect the light off the fog which creates a glare in driver’s eyes. The other major type is Mini bulbs which are shorter in length than other bulb and are not used as often as others. Indicators, brakes and interior dash board lights usually operate on these bulbs.
Lastly the type having many implications is Specialty bulbs. These bulbs are used to perform various functions such as the Neon LED lights on the side mirrors are quite useful as the additional blinkers. Similarly the additional lights on the rear of the vehicle add on to the brake indication. Running boards and step rails also use this type of lights which come on when the vehicle door opens to ensure the safe footing while coming in or out of the vehicle. Sequenced lights also fall in the specialty bulbs category.

Common Damages of Automotive Disc Brakes

The disc brake of a vehicle is the device that slows or stops the rotation of a wheel. However, they donât always last forever. The four most common ways your disc brakes become damaged is by warping, scarring, cracking, or excessive rusting. Service shops will typically respond to these problems by changing out the discs completely because repairing the abused disc may actually cost more.
Warping is usually caused by excessive heat. When the discâs friction area is at a higher temperature than the âhat,â or inner portion, thermal expansion takes place in the friction area and not in the inner portion, causing warping to occur. To minimize the likeliness of this occurring, you can use âfloatingâ rotors. These help to decouple the friction area from the inner portion, thus allowing thermal expansion to occur at different rates. Overheating typically happens due to excessive braking, riding the brakes, undersized or oversized brake discs, or a stuck brake pad.
Scarring, also referred to as âscoring,â occurs if the brake pads are not changed when their service life expires. It is extremely important to replace worn out brake pads promptly. When enough of the frictional material is worn away, the padâs steel backing plate, or pad retainer rivets will reach the rotorâs wear surface. This significantly reduces the carâs braking power and makes scratches on the disc. To prevent from scarring, it is recommended to periodically inspect the brake pads for wear. A prime time to check them is when you rotate your tires.
Usually drilled discs are the only disc brakes that crack. Small cracks sometimes develop around the edges of holes drilled near the disc due to the discâs uneven rate of expansion, especially when riding heavy duty roads. There is no repair that can fix a cracking but if it becomes a severe crack over time, the disc rotor must be replaced.
Brake discs are commonly made from cast iron. Thatâs why surface rusting is considered quite normal. Usually, the disc area is kept clean because of regular use. However, a vehicle that sits in a garage or storage unit for some time can develop a large a mount of rust. This decreases the braking power for some time until the car is driven and the rusted layer is worn off. Overall, disc brakes tend to rust a little bit but itâs nothing to worry about if you drive frequently. Cracking usually doesnât take place and warping and scarring is something you need to keep an eye on. When problems with your disc brakes are consistent or become severe, it is simply time to replace the parts.
