Will my auto insurance rates go up if I get a red light camera ticket?
Question by : Will my auto insurance rates go up if I get a red light camera ticket?
This is my first red light camera ticket but my second ticket this year. The first one was a speeding ticket. Will my auto insurance rates go up for a red light ticket?
Best answer:
Answer by Rocky Squirrel
Your insurance rate only goes up depending in which State you live. In States where red light camera tickets are civil penalities, then No. In States where red light camera tickets are treated like normal red light tickets; that is, a criminal misdemeanor, then Yes.
In all cases, all red light camera tickets are illegal no matter where you live. Your department of transportation does not paint the safe braking distance line on the road as required by the equation they use to set the yellow light duration. It’s a huge engineering defect we all overlooked so long as the police enforced the law. The police realize that deciding to stop or go when seeing a light turn yellow is a guess . . . and grant you leniency when you guess wrong by a fraction of a second.
Red light cameras are precision computers and do not allow the guess. The DOT must paint the line so that traversing an intersection upon seeing a yellow is not a guess.
Get tough and sue your city.

Q&A: Car Insurance quotes – Inquries to my credit file?
Question by aim2lead: Car Insurance quotes – Inquries to my credit file?
I am planning to buy a used car. So I began checking the insurance quotes online. I gave my personal information like Social etc. Now when I checked my credit file there are inquiries made by some insurance companies. Now my doubt is, will these effect my credit score. I am lot worried because, I have checked too many insurance quotes for the last one week. I doubt it will make my credit score fall. Please help if there is a way to rectify this.

Those should be “soft” hits (not applications for new credit) and won’t affect your credit score very much. Most insurance companies do factor in credit history when determining rates.

Can you answer this question about my commercial auto insurance app?
Question by SD Mike: Can you answer this question about my commercial auto insurance app?
On the commercial auto application it asks if this is a service, commercial or retail vehicle. I know it’s not retail. But what’s the difference between a commercial vehicle and a service vehicle?
Best answer:
Answer by fth106
Service use are vehicles that transport the insurerd’s personnel, tools, equipment and incidental supplies to and from a job site. Vehicles are at the job site the majority of the day. Examples would be Carpenters, Electricians, and Insurance Agents.
Commericial is anything that is not Retail or Service but is primarily vehicles hauling property between businesses. (Retail are vehicles used to deliver property to individuals or households, such as store delivery trucks.)
If you will ammend your question and describe what you do, we can give our opinion of which classification you should use.

Q&A: Will my auto insurance rates go up if the accident is not my fault?

Question by adopted: Will my auto insurance rates go up if the accident is not my fault?
I live in texas and a year ago, rear ended a vehicle in a low speed accident. They made a claim, but I did not. My insurance rates did not go up.
Today, I was hit from behind on the ice. The vehicle, a jeep, drove away as I was trying to gain traction and right my vehicle to avoid another collision. I did not get their license plate.
I have no choice but to file with my insurance company. Will my auto rates go up? And would it have been any different if my vehicle had been hit in a parking lot without my being there?

Where to find really cheap car insurance?

Question by : Where to find really cheap car insurance?
I want to buy a $ 200 car mainly to run it into my friend’s $ 200 car (kind of like playing bumper cars with real cars). I need a really cheap insurance that will basically only allow this car to be legal. I don’t plan on making any claims on it or using it for anything other than playing around on private property. Only want to make it road legal. Any suggestions? I am looking for something under 50$ per month

Answer by Matt
Sounds like fun.
Though if you are only going to use it for ramming in to each other, surely it will not be safe to take on the road anyway?
If you really want insurance take it out on a monthly basis as I don’t think the car will last that much longer LOL.
Have fun though.

Question by Jar: reason for home owners discount in Auto insurance?
What are the economic reason for discount in “Auto Insurance” if the person is also a home owner?
I see that even if the home owner insurance is not with the same carrier as Auto Insurance but still auto insurance company gives the home owner discount. And if it is with the same company then it is called “multiple policy” discount.
Also, One of the person has been renting and has the car garage, but that person did get the discount for garaged car but it was less than the home owner discount.
How does the probability of accident or other loss decrease with home ownership?

“How does the probability of accident or other loss decrease with home ownership?”
This is the wrong question. Auto insurance is priced on correlations rather than causations. There appears to be a correlation between lower loss costs on auto insurance for people who have homeowners insurance when compared with the entire cohort of people with auto insurance.

What auto insurance companies are currently appointing in Florida?
Question by : What auto insurance companies are currently appointing in Florida?
I have been a licensed 2-20 Insurance Agent for a year now. I’m currently looking for auto insurance companies that are appointing in Florida. Any names and phone numbers of these companies would be a big help.
Here are lists of companies that I’m currently writing business with:
Bristol West
Progressive
Gainsco
Seminoles
I need some more companies so that I am not only limited to these four. By the way I am in the SW Florida area.
Thanks SO much for your help guys

Unless you have a proven, profitable, existing book of six figures you can roll over, you’re not likely to get an appointment for a standard auto carrier in FL.
The PROBLEM is, most auto carriers also write homeowners – and they don’t want to write new homeowners in FL.
If there’s ONE more company I would recommend, it would be Leader Infinity. But I’m not positive that they write in Florida.

Question by Ashley: What companies offer instant online auto insurance proof?
**I don’t need quotes, I need printable proof of insurance**
I know The General offers instant proof of insurance by printing it straight from the internet, are there any other auto insurance companies that offer it?
I don’t want to know about quotes or estimates or any silly site about comparing prices.
I want to know what companies you can go to their site and print your insurance proof off of AT HOME so you can go driving asap.

Any company that allows you to purchase without going through an agency. Progressive, Geico, etc. but not State Farm etc.

a lot of times classic car ins is more because they insure it for what it would cost to replace it to the condition you have restored it to, whereas conventional ins would just give you blue book value for the car.
