Modern Marvels – Firestone Tires

Question by Kelly M: Using bigger tires and wheels but the struts are in the way. (Off road car) Any ideas?
I am planning on converting a 91 Dodge Colt in to a sort of semi sand car to off road in the desert around my area. The original wheels were 13s which I replaced with 15s. The next step was going to be getting larger off road tires for the new 15 x 8 rims. Like a fool I never really thought about the struts being in the way (Fenders are not a problem since I am removing them). Right now with lower profile street tires on the rims I have about an inch of clearance between the strut and tire and fitting larger tires on is not going to be possible. Do you have any advice? Would it be possible to swap out the struts for longer struts off of a different model car? A conversion to a different suspension type? (The struts on there probably wont hold up to too much of a beating anyways.)

Car details (Dodge Colt, 1.5 Litre, Front wheel drive, 4 speed manual tranny.)

you can get longer struts but then again you still might have a problem…worth a try

Ok, so I have a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LT, no pressure monitoring system.

I currently have Pirelli P6 Fourseasons, and they are GOOD tires. I was reading reviews though and MANY people said that the CINTURATO P3000′s were better (even though they are cheaper….) I was wondering if anyone has had any experience and also if the CINTURATO P4000′s are an option on my Chevy or a not so good one? Thank you!
Well I already have Pirellis on it, and forget those cheap brands, THEY don’t work trust me, i want my Pirelli’s!

Question by Nickname: Why are automobile tires filled with air?
I was just wondering, why are the tires filled with air/nitrogen whatever, and not all rubber or any other material inside? Is it because the “ride” won’t be smooth or what? Since that way you don’t have to fill the tire up and if you drive over a sharp object, even if it goes inside you’ll still be able to continue to drive.

LOL, no…I mean like why not all rubber inside, and not just outside? Or any other thing that fills up the inside other than a gas.
