As I state in the video DONOT use this information for illegal purposes, it is intended to HELP you if you happen to loose your wheel lock key. As with most things that I do with cars this didn’t go exactly as planned, in fact there is a significant amount of time between me getting the socket hammered onto the wheel lock and when it actually broke loose, I took a break to work on other things. I also said in the video that they make a special socket for removing wheel locks that makes this a lot easier, do a search for this and you will probably find a set of them. If you can’t find one of these sockets then this might be an option for you to try. I have a fiat punto 1.2 2000 reg which after 8 months of owning took on the motor way, for the first time, over the weekend. After about an hour and a half of driving almost completely straight the power steering warning light came on, I was just about to exit the motor way, worried! I was approaching a round about wondering if the steering would work! It was fine! I have had no problems with the steering what so ever, apart from the annoying light, which did exactly the same thing on my way return journey, showing after a long period of driving straight. Do you think I have a problem here? I feel it could be that because the steering is not being used much, due to driving straight, it thinks there is a fault, I have no clue about cars though! I also can’t really afford to take my car to a fiat dealer as I am scared of them telling me its not road worthy, I have been scaring myself reading forums!!!! ANY advise will be gratefully received

you power steering is electrical one and you motor is die,you need to replace you steering column with motor and modul,go to scrab yard and get for 40 or 50 quid

If you’re driving a vehicle, you must have this. Much more fun than the controller and not too much money for what it is. Pedals slid around a bit. First wheel I had would not connect after 3 weeks called Xbox and they were useless! MY 11 year old son is an expert driving game fan. He has them all. I built him a seat/wheel combo using this unit, and he loves it. It works great, and is WAY cheaper than any other decent wheel. Overall, this is a well-built steering wheel and pedal set. I’ve done some pretty intense racing with this wheel and I have yet to feel like I’m about to break the pedals. 

The wheel spins from stop to stop with a bit of resistance, making it feel more like a real steering wheel and less like a video game controller. Also the unit is pretty weighty. It does not feel cheap in any way.

I bought this one on a recommendation over the Logitech wheel, and I am certainly not disappointed at all!

It is fun!!

I decided to take the plunge and by the XBOX 360 wireless racing wheel. I have 3 games that I can play using the wheel and they are PGR3, GRID, and DIRT. I logged many hours into all three games before I bought the racing wheel, hoping that it would extend the life of the games. It has done just that. It is a lot of fun to use this wheel instead of the standard controller. It puts you “in the game” that much more. I don’t normally use the cockpit view when racing, but I found that view to work really well when using the racing wheel. More natural I guess. I can’t say that it improved my driving all that much, but I found that once I got used to the wheel, my driving was about the same. Maybe a little faster, but not by much. However, the wheel is much more fun to use and I do recommend it to any one who is looking for a more realistic feel to a driving game. There are some negatives though. When using the wheel, you have to use the D-pad to move the camera around which can be tough to do. In some games you can’t move your head at all like you can when using the controller. Also, for some reason it seems that my wheel found it’s center point a little to the left. To go in a straight line, I have to hold the wheel a little to the left. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem. I may take it back and swap it out with another one, maybe the one I have is bad or something. Also, find a table. I did not like using the wheel sitting in my lap. I found a TV dinner tray table to work pretty good. I can put my legs down in between the table legs to get to the gas and brake pedals. I use my legs to brace the table as it is a little wobbly. Overall, very satisfied with the racing wheel.

Fun Driving Experience

I actually bought this steering wheel for my 12-year-old son, who is the expert gamer in the family. He highly recommends the steering wheel and upon trying it out myself, I agree that it makes the Nascar driving games much more realistic. You hand it back and say you just want the metal part and not the rubber tire. ‘You mean the metal rim?’ asks the seller. ‘No, the metal wheel’ you reply. The seller smirks and you give a sheepish grin. People commonly resort to sign language, play acting and all sorts of tricks when they want to buy Ford wheels and rims for their car.

This confusion occurs because some are of the opinion that rims and wheels are the same. Some say they are not. Most of us do not bother to find out the difference and philosophically conclude that wheels are wheels and rims are rims and never shall the twain meet.

when were rims for wheels . first invented? In Iron Age, people discovered that the wooden wheel with spokes lasted longer if a metal band was nailed to its circumference. As technology improved, entire wheels began to be made of metal. We learnt from our ancestors and started using spokes in our metal wheels at the beginning of the 20th century. From the bicycle to automobile, it is common to use rims for wheel to improve its performance.

The early automobiles did not use tires and the car used to run on the metal rim. Vulcanized rubber and Dunlop’s invention of pneumatic tires slowly led to the use of air filled or tubeless rubber tires mounted on the rim of the wheel. After that, many variations in the design of the rims took place. Single unit rims were used in small cars while multiple units were welded together in bigger vehicles. There is no other single accessory that can so dramatically change the appearance of your vehicle as a set of custom wheels. In the old days, custom or “mag” wheels came from just a few manufacturers like Cragar, AT and American Racing. Now you can find all types of designs to fit any look or attitude from a myriad of makers including Pulse, Avenue, Dub, Enkel, Foose, and of course, American Racing and Cragar Classic.  When talking about custom wheels for street use, “Mag” is actually a misnomer.  In the early ‘60s, “Mag” was a term that racers used to refer to their lightweight, yet strong wheels made of magnesium.  But due to the drawbacks of magnesium wheel care and maintenance, custom wheels engineered for the general public are usually made of more easily cared for chrome plated steel, polished aluminum, or painted aluminum. 

Chrome or Aluminum?
Largely it’s a matter of taste, but there are a few things to consider. First, are these wheels primarily for occasional racing where weight might be an issue?  Or is it for a sometimes off-road or rally application, in which case, durability is an issue. Or is it simply for street cruising or touring where looks are the main issue? 

Painted Steel and Chrome plated steel wheels are heaviest of the three, but also are the most durable and forgiving of damage.  Good chrome plating not only looks great, but also resists corrosion. Painted aluminum is lighter, and virtually maintenance-free but cannot match the sheen of chrome or polished aluminum – which for many customizers is just the look they’re going for. Polished aluminum is light, looks great, but requires just a little more diligence to protect the finish from oxidization or pitting.  

Larger Tire Retail chains have installed thousands of wheel and tire combinations on vehicles over the years and can suggest several options that will work best with your particular vehicle and the look you are trying to achieve. Often they can even show you pictures of previous installations.

A Word On Wheel and Tire Fitment 
One of the trends in custom wheels today is to install oversize wheels, up to 22″ or more.  Keep in mind that any time you install rims that are taller than the tallest wheel that came standard on your vehicle, it requires careful planning. The larger diameter rim, with accompanying tire, must not only fit in the wheel well, but also have enough extra room for full travel of the suspension. Failure to do this properly will result in, at best, an annoying thud when hitting large bumps or, at worst, shredding and blowing out of the tire after just a few miles. The simplest way to accommodate a taller wheel is to switch to a lower profile tire so that the overall height of the wheel and tire package remains the same as before. The penalty for increasingly lower profile tires is increasingly stiffer handling and harsher ride. 

For performance customizers who have installed aftermarket brakes on their vehicles, separate calculations have to be made for backspace and offset, the measurements for how much space there is between the wheel centerline and the body of the car and how offset the centerline of the wheel is from the mounting plate.  Done correctly. This will ensure that the wheel not only has enough space to accommodate for the oversized brakes, but that the entire wheel and tire package will have enough room side-to-side in the wheel well.

Consult a Professional
Trying to buy custom wheels online should only be attempted by those who have had some real experience in this area. For most of us, the best option is a large local tire retailer that stocks a big selection of chrome, painted or polished custom wheels.  Not only can you see and compare actual wheels side-by-side, but you are also assured that the great –looking tire and wheel package you end up with is one that will work properly (read safely) with your vehicle. This is not a time for trial and error!

I want to put some nice chrome style rims and possibly some low profile tires on my 69 firebird. what size rim and tire can I use that won’t rub the front or back fenders on bumps or turning corners. I’ve had some wheels & tires on it that rubbed really bad especially when ever I had other people riding with me. please advise. thank you!

Whilst fancy rims look good,As you already mentioned they can produce problems.If they rub any part of the body they are not safe.Also tyres for these after market wheels are always more expensive.So think long and hard before parting with your money!.
