Right away.Give it a couple of days for the car-wash.I would ask them to seal the edge with painters masking tape to keep all moisture away for 24 hours.

Question by Melanie H: Best auto glass replacement shop in Tucson?
I’m looking for an auto glass replacement shop in Tucson and would love to talk to someone about their experiences with auto glass shops in Tucson or at least a good referral to call.
I have a huge crack in my windshield and need it to be replaced as quick as possible because I was pulled over for it and now I have to go to court. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer by Mike
Hi Melanie,
There are several auto glass replacement shops to choose from in Tucson. Just do a search in Google for “Tucson auto glass” or “Tucson auto glass replacement”.
I used http://autoglassreplacementtucson.com the last time I replaced my windshield and a gentleman by the name of Daniel installed it for me. I would definitely call them again because he went way and beyond what was expected.
He can also repair chips and cracks in your windshield as well. I’m not sure how bad yours is but just give him a call and he’ll let you know if it’s salvageable or not. Their number is 520-869-8624.
If you get it repaired before you go to court they should dismiss the ticket. I hope this has help you.

Question by : What are the best windshield wiper blades I can buy?
I have a 2002 Toyota 4Runner. The stock wiper blades are crap in the winter time. I replaced them with PIAA wiper blades, and those aren’t good in the winter either.
When the wiper blades get cold or get some snow on ice on them, they don’t make even contact on the windshield. So, as the wiper tries to clean the water, snow or dirt off the windshield, it leaves big spots where the blade is obviously not making contact with the glass.
Should I upgrade to “winter blades” to avoid this, and, if so, which brand?
Thanks!

Answer by Nat
MotoMaster reflex are great in both winter and summer. They don’t have the normal hinges so unless you have a tonne of ice on them they won’t lose contact

Can It Be A Windshield Repair Or Windshield Replacement You Most Need

We’ve all had the situation, traveling down the highway without a worry in the world and all of a sudden you hear a loud “pop” which sounds like a gun shot in the vehicle. Now you realize that the loud gun shot sound was a stone flying off of the car or truck tire in front of you and hitting your windshield, thus making a chip on the glass. Things like this fit in the category of “frustrating.” It is easy to take your car in to the nearest auto glass shop to get it reconditioned but most individuals who do that end up investing in a complete autoglass replacement instead of a straight forward windshield repair.
A whole auto glass replacement is not actually required in almost all situations relating to windshield chips. There’s a much less complicated and less costly method for mending that annoying chip in your auto glass. Windshield repair kits are usually affordable and easy to utilize which is why I suggest picking one up and possibly saving some cash over the expense of a complete windshield replacement.
There’s 2 layers of glass which make up the front windshield on your car. Between the 2 layers of glass is a polymer substance which is often used to strengthen the glass and stop it from breaking into a thousand bits during an accident.
Windshield repair can be easily carried out due to the front windshield being created from these two distinct layers of glass. Generally the first layer of glass is often the only layer that is chipped due to the impact from stones and other road trash. This leaves the inside layer in one piece which is why windshield repair can be done. It is very expensive to have a windshield replacement in today’s economy so if you may use windshield repair in order to save some bucks and prevent the crack from growing any further I’d greatly recommend doing so.
Occasionally more than just the outside or first layer of glass is cracked or the chip is right in the motorists line of site above the steering wheel. In both of these circumstances you should consider a whole windshield replacement. Impairment to the motorist can happen whenever each layers of glass become chipped or the damage is within the driver’s direct line of site.
If the damage can be repaired you then should do something to fix it as soon as possible. Leaving the chip for an extended period of time may cause it to fill up with weather elements and weaken. As the crack weakens it’ll start to spread over the whole windshield. Once such things happen you will need to call for a complete replacement which can be much more high-priced than just a repair.
With all the proper tools it’s very easy to perform a windshield repair. The way of repairing damage within your windshield is the same regardless of what manufacturers product you choose to utilize.
You will start off filling in all areas by treating the nick with resin utilizing some kind of syringe. After you have inserted the crack you will place a unique Ultra-violet light on the fixed spot for around two minutes which will cause the resin to harden. The solidified repair should seem eighty to 90 % less visible if carried out correctly.
These small windshield repair kits are great for single applications however, if you’re needing to carry out more than a single chip repair I recommend researching whether you should buy a professional auto glass repair kit. Professional auto glass restoration kits usually include sufficient resin to perform around 100 repairs and cost about as much as ten consumer kits.
If you are not the “do it yourself” kind of individual then it’s not hard to find a expert windshield repair technician to execute these repairs for you. Windshield repair from a skilled provider will most likely cost around to for just one chip and usually to for each extra chip on the same vehicle. This may seem expensive but it is much less than that of a whole auto glass replacement cost. You may also contact your insurance provider to discover if they will cover the price to get a windshield repair. Most insurance companies will waive the deductible for the windshield repair mainly because it falls under the comprehensive section of your insurance policy.
Protecting you and your family from road debris and other weather conditions while driving is what the windshield is designed for. That is the reason why regardless how small the crack is it’s very important to get it fixed as soon as possible to make certain you and your family continue to stay safe from external things.

How to Change Windshield Wiper Blades

One may find that the windshield wiper blades on the car may not be working as well as they used to. If this is the case, then it is well advised to replace the existing worn out wiper blades with a new pair. Ideally, it is vitally important to replace the windshield wiper blades on one’s car after every six months, which translates to roughly twice a year. It is not advisable to wait until the wipers are completely worn out since one may be forced to replace them especially if it rains and the wiper blades fail to function as they should. Worn out wipers cannot effectively, remove water from the windshield and this is dangerous since the car owner will have low visibility when driving on a rainy day.
Wiper blade inspection should be listed as an important activity to be carried out when the car goes in for its routine maintenance. Any signs of wear and tear on the wiper blades should be looked at and if a replacement is in order, one should be undertaken. Changing wiper blades is not a difficult task. However, one needs to be careful while handling windshield wipers. This is because, since the wiper arm is made of metal and the windshield of glass, ineptness could lead to a scratched or a cracked wind shield. To prevent the occurrence of such accidents, it is advisable to place a cloth or an old T-shirt on the windshield when replacing the wiper blades.
Thus, it is advisable to replace the wiper blades in the store where the purchase is done. This is because the car owner may require and receive assistance while looking to replace the wiper blades on the car. Additionally, it is possible to compare different kinds of wipers prior to settling on the most ideal. With wipers, the car owner may opt for a refill as opposed to replacing the entire blade. Still, this may only occur in instances where the rubber parts of the blade are worn out and there is need to replace them. Worn out wipers should be removed before the new ones are fixed. This is done by first lifting the wiper arm off the wind shield. This way it is easier to work on them. The wiper blades then need to be detached from the wiper arm by pressing or sliding the release tab connecting the two and finally pulling to separate them.
Sometimes, the wiper arm may snap back and hit the wind shield. It is therefore important to rest the wiper arm against the windshield while waiting to install new wipers. In order to properly install the new wipers, the car owner should make sure that they correctly follow the set of directions attached to the new wiper blades. Once the wipers have been installed, they should be tested to ascertain that they function as they are supposed to. It is important to have a flat head screw driver on hand when changing wind shield wiper blades.
